Revelation 3:1-3 "And to the angel of the church in Sardis write, 'These things says He that has the seven Spirits of God and the seven stars: "I know your works, that you have a name, that you live, but you are dead. ² Be watchful, and strengthen that which remains, which you were about to cast out, for I have not found your works perfect before My God. ³ Remember therefore how you have received and heard, and hold fast, and repent. Therefore if you will not watch, I will come upon you like a thief, and by no means shall you know what hour I will come upon you.

Revelation 2:23-29 ²³ I will kill her children with death, and all the churches shall know that I am He who searches minds and hearts. And I will give to each one of you according to your works. ²⁴ But to you I say, to the rest who are in Thyatira, as many as do not have this doctrine, who have not known the depths of Satan, as they say, I will put on you no other burden. ²⁵ Only hold fast what you have till I come. ²⁶ And he who overcomes, and he who keeps My works until the end, to him I will give authority over the nations-- ²⁷ 'And he shall rule them with a rod of iron; they shall be smashed to pieces like clay vessels'--as I also have received from My Father; ²⁸ and I will give him the morning star. ²⁹ "He who has an ear, let him hear what the Spirit says to the churches."'

I am preaching through 1 Corinthians verse by verse. Today, we look at Paul's warnings of Israel. (1 Cor 10:1-13)

Today we start chapter 10 in our verse by verse study of 1 Corinthians, and we look at Paul's example of Israel, as a warning: "Let him who thinks he stand take heed lest he fall." 1 sermon, divided into 2 parts.

1 Corinthians 10:1-13 Moreover, brethren, I do not want you to be unaware that all our fathers were under the cloud, all passed through the sea, ² all were baptized into Moses in the cloud and in the sea, ³ all ate the same spiritual food, ⁴ and all drank the same spiritual drink. For they drank of that spiritual Rock that followed them, and that Rock was Christ. ⁵ But with most of them God was not well pleased, for their bodies were scattered in the wilderness. ⁶ Now these things became our examples, to the intent that we should not lust after evil things as they also lusted. ⁷ And do not become idolaters as were some of them. As it is written, "The people sat down to eat and drink, and rose up to play." ⁸ Nor let us commit sexual immorality, as some of them did, and in one day twenty-three thousand fell; ⁹ nor let us tempt Christ, as some of them also tempted, and were destroyed by serpents; ¹⁰ nor complain, as some of them also complained, and were destroyed by the destroyer. ¹¹ Now all these things happened to them as examples, and they were written for our admonition, upon whom the ends of the ages have come. ¹² Therefore let him who thinks he stands take heed lest he fall. ¹³ No temptation has overtaken you except such as is common to man; but God is faithful, who will not allow you to be tempted beyond what you are able, but with the temptation will also make the way of escape, that you may be able to bear it.
